Pressure is building from the international transplant professional to end all collaborations with China in relation to organ transplantation medicine, research and training. As explained by Dr Adnan Sharif, there is also a responsibility on medical journals to uphold ethical standards, “Ensuring ethical practice in China requires a robust international response rather than flaccid engagement. Until practice in the country can be ethically assured, medical journals should decline translational or clinical transplantation research from China, especially when deceased organ donors are used.”
