US Representatives Send Letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio Urging State Department Intervention in China’s Forced Organ Harvesting Empire

07 August 2025: Representatives Chris Smith (R-NJ), John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Neal Dunn, M.D. (R-FL) sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging the Department of State to deploy its existing Rewards for Justice authorities to “deter and disrupt the market for illegally procured organs” and “hold accountable those responsible for the gruesome practice” of forced organ harvesting by the CCP.
The letter notes that the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act (H.R. 1503) will “provide the State Department with important new authorities to hold organ traffickers accountable”. It also urges the State Department to ” to take immediate steps to disrupt and deter the lucrative market for illegally procured organs by leveraging the State Department’s rewards programs to gather information that can help bring perpetrators to justice” whilst the bill awaits Senate action.
“The State Department already has the funds and the authority to offer rewards for actionable intelligence; it is time that we deploy them to dismantle this illegal and gruesome billion-dollar industry and deliver justice to those whose lives have been mercilessly stolen.”
