Following the exposure of Chinese Communist Party’s live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, more and more secret investigations have been conducted to identify the authenticity of the allegation. The Slaughter is a new book soon to be released in August. Written by former U.S. think tank researcher Ethan Gutmann, this book illustrates the live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners by a doctor who eye witnessed the entire process.
Recently, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting interviewed former U.S. think tank researcher Ethan Gutmann about his new book The Slaughter, a painstaking collective investigation and records of live organ harvesting of more than 100 witnesses.
Among them was a surgeon with a peerless reputation for integrity and candor. He has personal and direct knowledge of the organ harvesting of Falun Gong in the Chinese mainland, said Gutmann. On August 12 when the book is released, the experience and identity of the doctor will be revealed.
The eyewitness doctor had learned about the live organ harvesting while visiting outside of China. After returning to China, he conducted his own investigation. In New York, during the commemoration activity of the 4.25 peaceful appeal of Falun Gong practitioners, doctor Liu accepted NTD’s interview.
Doctor Liu, witness of live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China: “I went to the medical record room for organ transplants and found kidney transplant cases were particularly high. When I looked into the cases, none of them was available. When I requested the cases to the staff in charge of the records, they all avoided my request, like they’re hiding something.”
Dr. Liu says the flyers about organ transplant were all over the hospital where he worked.
Dr. Liu: “The kidney transplant flyer, for example, said quick matching for any blood type and donor. Flyers of such (a kind) were many more than before. I had no idea where these organs would come from. Some doctors did write reports, but, the data reported were kept as a secret. The more operations they have performed, the more skillful they’ll become. But, often their reports were questioned about the source of the donors, which often were left unanswered.”
Ethan Gutmann’s attitude towards the allegation of live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners has turned from skeptical to conducting investigation and finally dedication to stand up and expose the shady crimes, as evidenced by his two other books, State Organ and Losing The New China.
Gutmann described that he was standing on the shoulders of giants: Kilgour and Matas, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), and Matthew Robertson’s seminal reporting, who have provided many proofs of the live organ harvesting.
Kilgour and Matas list fully 52 key points of evidence in Bloody Harvest, many of them based on Chinese government documents.
Gutmann said, all these different sources of evidence have firmly ensured and concluded the (facts of) collective organ harvesting. Swear by fieldwork and refugee interviews, is the heart of what he does. He said, “When you get a whiff of the same familiar cordite in divergent locations—Asia, Australia, Europe, North America—and from completely unrelated individuals—a young Falun Gong man, a Uyghur nurse, a Tibetan monk. Then the cloak of skepticism must surely fall away.”
Just recently, human rights lawyers illegally detained in the northeast Jiansanjiang black jail received the same threats of live organ harvesting by the police.
Tang Jitian, human rights lawyer: “In the violent beating, they threatened to bury me in a hole, take my kidney, and kill me like how Jang Sung-taek was murdered by North Korea’s Kim Jong-un. In the interrogation, they also threatened to send me to the brainwashing center for forced conversion.”
Commentator Lin Zixu points out that when the police arbitrarily threaten with live organ harvesting, that tells the fact they have become accustomed to the crimes.
According to Gutmann’s investigation, no less than 65,000 Falun Gong practitioners have been subject to live organ harvesting. He said, “Why would the Chinese leadership take such a wild risk? Why would they commit atrocities on such a massive scale?” In fact they are the central dilemma that his book investigates. Six of the ten chapters are devoted to how and why the repression of Falun Gong spun out of control.
